Robert Golob

completed his undergraduate education at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in 1989, his master’s degree three years later, and his doctoral education in 1994. After receiving his doctoral degree, he was awarded a Fulbright Grant for a visiting position at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. In 1997, he became an assistant professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana. In 1998, he was appointed head of a negotiation team working on the EU’s energy policy. From 1999 to 2002, he was state secretary for energy matters and helped draft several important energy acts. He has authored numerous publications and papers on markets, the optimization of energy sources and electricity system planning. He has managed several basic research and industry-applicable projects for the Slovenian energy sector. In 2002, he founded and became the general manager of Istrabenz Gorenje (now IG energetski sistemi). Mr Golob is an associate professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana, and president of the management board at GEN-I, d.o.o.
