Trading at GEN-I
Trading is one of the most important pillars of GEN-I, as we trade on international markets, have a presence in 26 countries, making us one of the leading energy companies in the region. Our trading volumes of power and gas exceed 295 TWh in 2024, which is about twenty times the total electricity consumption of the Republic of Slovenia.
Trading is strongly intertwined with advanced analytics and innovative analytical tools, which we are continuously developing and upgrading. We are continuously expanding our team of traders and analysts, providing professional training and mentoring.

How does Trading challenge work?
This six-week challenge features lectures and a chance to try your hand at trading under the watchful eye of our experienced traders, and to work with data, analyses and forecasting models with the support of our analysts. The challenge is divided into trading and analytics, meaning that you can choose the field that interests you the most.
At the end of the programme we will offer the best participants the chance of employment in trading or analytics, or a scholarship.
The challenge will take place entirely online, so you can join it from wherever you are.
Who can apply?
The challenge is open to anyone who enjoys and is interested in trading and analytics. If you like observing market shifts and following global news, our Trading challenge is made for you. Join the competition and show us your skills. The Trading challenge will take place in English.
What will you learn?
Through daily lectures you’ll get to know the basic principles of trading, and learn how to establish strategies and scrutinise events on the market – what’s more, you’ll get the opportunity to trade in energy in an entirely financial risk-free environment.
You’ll have access to the latest trading tools throughout the challenge – the very same tools that our employees use themselves.
